Driving along the waterfront Corniche, visiting the Fish Market and Muttrah Souq, passing by the Rulers Palace, Jalali and Mirani Forts on the way to Quantab. We may visit the Grand Mosque of Muscat, which is probably the only mosque in the Gulf States open for male AND female visitors, dress code applies.
Driving along the Batinah coast into the hinterland, we visit Hazam Fort, guarding the entrance to the oasis. You can see the Falaj system. In the provincial capital of Rustaq, we stop at the fort for a picture taking and proceed to the Thowarah warm springs of Nakhl before proceeding back home.
Through Hajar Mountains via Bahla, Fort Jabreen, famous for its artistic wall and ceiling paintings, we cross the wadi of Tanuf. In Nizwa, we witness the Nizwa Fort and the Souq with intricately hand-carved Omani daggers and silver jewellery. Returning, we pass the oasis of Fanjah and Birkat Al Mauz.
The castle-fort of Bait Al Naahman (only 12 km from the hotel) is an old reminder of the past glorious, but wild history of Oman. The fort is well restored and fitted with furniture, library, and other memorabilia. It is a worthwhile visit for those, who nevertheless want to see a little bit live history.
Across the rugged Hajar Mountains, we pass by the city Ibra on the way to the Wadi Bani Khalid, one of the most famous and beautiful wadis in Oman. From there, adrenalin goes high when we enter the dune landscape of the Waheeba desert and conquer the high dunes.
